Juliane Müller is Privatdozentin (lecturer with a Habilitation) at the Institute of Social and Cultural Anthropology at the University of Munich. She received a doctorate in anthropology in 2011 for her work on Andean transnational migration, gender, and community sports. Her current interests lie within the fields of poplar economy, trade and markets in the Andes, and Latin America–China commercial connections and supply chains. She has conducted extensive fieldwork in Spain and Bolivia, as well as fieldwork in transit in Chile and China. Recent publications include “Webs of Fiesta-related Trade: Chinese Imports, Investment and Reciprocity in La Paz, Bolivia” (Critique of Anthropology, 2020) and “Andean-Pacific Commerce and Credit: Bolivian Traders, Asian Migrant Businesses, and International Manufacturers in the Regional Economy” (Journal for Latin American and Caribbean Anthropology, 2018).
